Shhhh...

If I have to keep a secret, I can. But I certainly don't like to do so. In fact, when I get a juicy bit of gossip, there is nothing more I want to do than scream it from the hills. But if I am asked to keep it quiet, I do. I may be a loudmouth, but I'm a trustworthy loudmouth.

But it is, quite simply, KILLING ME to sit on the three industry secrets I have in my back pocket right now. Oh shit. I just thought of a fourth one.

1. The venture from Scott that I mentioned before. It's just really fucking cool. And I want to tell you about it so badly that I'm weeping trying to hold it in.

2. The circumstances of Sante Salvoni's departure from the Slow Club. I have only one side of the story. And since I love the peeps on the other side as well, I'm in a bit of a pickle. I'm crazy tore up about this one. Like condom-wrapper-in-the-alley-behind-my-building tore up.

3. One of my favorite, favorite, favorite places EVER from another city is coming to SF. One of their workers e-mailed me yesterday. But the ink isn't dry, so I can't spill just yet. Please excuse me while I rip out my own intestines from sheer frustration.

4. The newest ventures from the Slanted Door folks. Which many of you probably have an idea about already. Quite frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if they announced they were opening one on every street corner, or in the airport at the rate they're going (as far as I know, they are doing neither of those things).

I will be screaming these bits and pieces as loud as I can, as soon as I can.

I feel like Tantalus right now. It's not pretty.

xoxo

OK - I am guessing number three is the place where I am going for lunch on Saturday?

I so can't wait to go there - and it better be good, because you hyped it so much I don't think I can live another week without trying it.

Of course, i will be out of town this weekend.

I'm sitting on a couple of big ones myself, dawl. I feel your pain.

Try, instead of wanting to rip your intestines out, laughing at how much fun it is. Think of the good that's coming: like Christmas.

At least, that's what's working for me. Oh, and I'm getting "I Knew It All Along" tattoo. (Guess where?)

Ms. Gagliardi spilled the beans on Slanted Door on her tablehopper blog so I don't see anything wrong with you confirming or refuting her statements.

A little bird also told me ~CHARLES PHAN~ of Slanted Door MIGHT be doing something downstairs in the Food Emporium. Maybe. Looking at the success of his "Out the Door" takeout offshoot at the Ferry Building, that would be my guess. Will report more once I hear something official. I also just saw this on Chowhound: "The owners of Slanted Door appear to be in the early stages of attempting to open another Slanted Door restaurant at 2232 Bush Street, near Fillmore. This week, they received a positive vote from the Board of Appeals regarding a zoning issue." Well. Look who's busy busy.

Yes, Patrick, I got the newsletter as well.

The reason I will not confirm is that I have a relationship with the family and do not wish to jeopardize it by outing their news before they are ready to do so themselves. I earned my name by showing restaurateurs the love, not screwing them over.

I'm wondering if you ever followed up on your inside information on why Sante Salvoni left Slow Club? I just returned to Slow Club recently and was very disappointed to hear that he was gone. The hostess would only say that he had "moved on to other things"

Anonymous,

No...I only have one side of the story and I don't feel comfortable taking sides. Needless to say, it sucks all around.
